Mass. Drama Guild Festival report

Congratulations and thanks to all who helped make possible CCHS' first
time participation in the Massachusetts Drama Guild competition with the
Actor's Nightmare on Saturday, March 1.

Despite snowy conditions and an early morning wakeup, ten students made
their way to Weston High School to perform Actor's Nightmare. The ten
students were made up original cast from the 3x3x3 production of the play
this fall, Torie Burmeister, David Dawson, Nicole Guild, James Weaver, and
Olivia Zubrowski, plus a tech crew of five, Jon Daigle, Sarah Ganek,
Bennett Hartnett, Emily Walek, and David Yanofsky. The competition
requires that each play be under 40 minutes with no more than five minutes
of set up before and take down time after the show. The CCHS students
watched seven other productions over the course of the day by other area
schools and then performed their own. They were greeted with laughter and
praise. The Student Recognition award praised our show for "its excellent
comic timing and use of a strobe light." Congratulations to David Dawson,
James Weaver, and Olivia Zubrowski for winning acting awards. A special
thanks to the five techies who came aboard in the eleventh hour of the
process and with only one tech rehearsal at WHS, learned the light, sound,
and set cues necessary to make the show happen. And as always, thanks to
George Kendall, Ned Roos and the parents of CCPOPS for their support and
encouragement.

114 schools performed Marrch 1st all over the state. At our competition,
Weston H.S., Hamilton-Wenham H.S., and Tyngsboro H.S. were selected to go
on to the semi-final round. The state finals will be held at the end of
March at the John Hancock Building downtown. For more information, please
